Gabtastik - a new kind of chat application

Gabtastik

We know that there are many chat applications available for various platforms supporting many service under one roof. We also know that many chat services provide browser-based clients. Still, since very recently we are seeing a new wave of application development, based on browser framework, but behaving as a stand-alone application. In fact, the end-user can make its own application, in the sense, that this application is nothing but the same web-service. It is made possible through Prism based on Firefox and Fluid based on WebKit (e.g. Safari browser).

But sometimes rather than opening the whole web service, it is desirable to have certain subservice on the portal to be accessible as an application, which may be called Site Specific Browser (SSB). And in case of Google Talk, Facebook Chat, Gabtastik comes into play. Gabtastik is based on WebKit, i.e. it is only available for Mac. But the idea is simple to use the web-interface and make it a simple application, rather than writing the whole new application from ground-up for these new popular chat service. It even supports Meebo, which comes handy, since Meebo is providing web-based client for almost all popular chat services.

I think this client will become famous among many mac users.
